RT N66W Dual Band Wireless N900 Gigabit Version

ASUS RT-N66W Dual-Band Wireless-N900 Gigabit Router (White Version) (Personal Computers) I bought this to replace a Netgear 3400. Signal strength is not dramatically higher than the Netgear but it is good enough. I had to install the Merlin firmware so I could turn the leds off and see if that fixes a lot of issues with the DLNA functionality. It seems the mini DLNA server has problems if the media connected to the USB is near of above 2GB and is formatted with NTFS. I have read that adding another USB drive formated with EXT3 to store the DLNA database fixes the issues but I have not tried this yet.

Issues I am experiencing with DLNA are: Database or list of files is not updated and there is no way to refresh it in the administration tool, after the media is connected, it changes to #Scanning# and takes about 1 hour to finish. I have a lot of movies and TV shows in a Toshiba 2GB external HD.

Net, the router is good, has a lot of functionality, good signal and the possibility of using a modified firmware which is updated very often.
