Canon EOS Rebel SL1 18.0 MP CMOS Digital SLR with EF-S 18-55mm IS STM Lens (Electronics) I bought this camera for those occasions when lugging around my EOS 7D was not an option. The sensor and image processor are the same as those in the 7D, but the autofocus is much less sophisticated and the camera has fewer bells and whistles. So far neither of these has been an issue. The limiting factor has been the short zoom range of the stock 18-55 mm zoom lens. I think Canon went overboard here in an effort to keep weight and cost down. If this were my only lens, I'd be very unhappy. However, the SL-1 body paired with the stock 18-135 mm IS zoom from the 7D makes an excellent camera that's still quite small and light. I don't use 90% of the features on the 7D, so I don't miss them on the SL-1, and I'm old-school enough that I don't mind putting the lens into manual focus when I need to. My only issue is finding a case that works with the longer lens.
