It captures excellent color and clarity and it does it all with a great wide angle. But even with the wide angle, you can get close ups done well too. I took some nice pictures of the wife up close and it was great. But I feel where this camera shines is in its ability to capture scenic vistas or situations where you need a lot if information in the photo - I also use it for an around town blog that I have and the picture quality is just extraordinary. It fits neatly into a shirt pocket too. A great little camera.
