The Bondwoman's Narrative (Paperback) This book is valuable because it is a first person account of emerging from slavery into freedom. The book is primarily about Crafts' experience and the experiences of other women of color in similar predicaments. Unfortunately, there are not enough texts of this kind. The book does illustrate the brutalities and dysfuntions of slavery. This is not the "fairytale" type of slave narrative that so many have become accustomed to, so read on.Agatta
