a. a child will not get bored with it, within 15 minutes;
b. be useful for a long age range; and
c. be relatively educational.
That being said, the My Discovery House is, by far, one of the great ones! I recently bought it for a one-year-old's birthday present and naturally I had bust it open and try it out. Because of her young age, my then 10-month old didn't understand most of the teaching phrases (colors, opposites, etc.). However, she was immediately drawn to #big bird/little bird# and playing with the many moving parts. In the short time she played with the house, I immediately knew this was a toy that would grow with her. My baby is now 14 months and absolutely loves it! She is going through a phase, where she loves to turn on/off light switches. Well...it has a full size light switch, with accompanying #light on/light off# verbal responses. Perfect! Also, in addition to meeting my abc's above, if you've ever purchased a relatively good quality toy, the $16 price tag for this toy is AMAZING. This house is worth at least double that (Leap Frog, disregard that last sentence :-). I am confident that you, like me, will be absolutely thrilled to watch your baby continually discover new aspects of this toy.
