I love building sets because they foster creativity, develop small motor skills, and build spatial recognition in our children. Tinker toys were one of the first integrated building sets, along with Lincoln Logs, that I can remember. Now they have smooth plastic rods and spools as well as bendable rods and some imaginative extras to be even more creative!

This 150 piece set is big enough to build a lot of small creations and, of course, you can get more sets to make larger ones. I have some of the older, wooden pieces but they are not really interchangeable. The wood rods are too small to fit the plastic spools. These new parts snap together securely and stay that way until you pull them apart, which takes a bit of effort. My 7 year old granddaughter had a bit of a struggle with some of them so I wonder if a younger child might need help dismantling them.

Beyond this, she had a lot of fun building creatures, buildings, and towers however her imagination dreamed up. There is also a sheet of suggestions and instructions of how to build 15 pictured creations.

This all comes in a large, sturdy plastic capped cardboard box for storage. Great fun to lure your kiddos away from the video screens!
