Estes 1491 Taser Launch Set

Estes 1491 Taser Launch Set (Toy) Customer review from the Amazon Vine Program (What's this?) Had a mixed experience with this Estes kit. Largely positive. My 11 year old son and I had a good time building the rocket. It went together smoothly and the launch pad was very easy to assemble as well. As others have indicated, the two associated purchases are glue and engines, both of which we purchased at the local Toys R Us.

On day of the launch we used the wadding from the engine kit and set up the rocket on the pad. The first attempt at launch went nowhere, so we waited and then reseated the ignition wires. This time we got a very straight launch and watched as the rocket deployed the chute and drifted back to earth. The second launch was less successful.

The rocket fired as expected, but this time the chute never deployed and the yellow and black javelin crashed back to earth. Since the rocket is primarily made of cardboard it crumpled fairly seriously upon impact. We came to discover that the cap holding the engine in was missing, which probably was the cause behind the chute failure.

My son enjoyed the experience so much, we've decided to buy some additional rockets and to continue with our attempts at spaceflight. Next up is the Estes 3 Bandits Model Rocket Kit and the Estes 2452 Athena Flying Model Rocket Kit !
