GoPro HERO3+: Black Edition (Electronics) Not a huge update from the 3 to the 3+ like how we seen previous models. Think of this like the Iphone 4 and Iphone 4s or the 5 and now 5c & 5S. The now 'old' Hero 3 Black Edition can be had for roughly 70 dollars cheaper currently. So you may want to look into that and picking up an extra battery. It does have better image quality. The big changes are from the casing, which is smaller and lighter, and from the improved battery both of which could easily be upgraded too. Although the lens has been improved the quality of footage from the previous black edition was already excellent so if there is a difference it really is only marginal. The new improved casing doesn't allow you to go as deep in the water as the previous model. But still accepts your Hero 3:BE cases which is a huge plus. As well as let you use the older batteries. Which is always good to have more then just the one. A great sports camera with tight rivals. On the high end for your money but shoots great video with the improved lens and smart phone/tablet app that lets you change setting on the fly easily making the premium price is justified.
