LeapFrog LeapPad2 Power Disney McStuffins

LeapFrog LeapPad2 Power Learning Tablet, Green (Toy) This is an absolutely wonderful tablet. Our 3, 5, & 7 year old children all love it--probably because it adapts to their levels. Each child signs in by touching his/her name on the screen (our 3-year-old can turn it on, sign in, and play a game, watch a video, or listen to an e-book all by herself), and each child has a personalized background. We still read #real# books regularly, but the Leappad 2 gives our youngest a way to #read# all by herself. My wife and I can keep track of their playing time and their progress on our computer through the online (it helps to highlight problem areas).

I really don't understand the reviews that criticize the cost of the apps., as It is a system rather than a stand-alone toy and each new app./e-book/video adds to its usefulness and longevity in the same way that a new game adds value to a Playstation or Xbox console. The difference is that the Leapfrog apps. actually teach--in a way that is as fun (really) as a video game. Honestly, does your child really enjoy those math flash cards? And what is it worth to help your child learn to blend letter sounds into words in an enjoyable way? It is helpful, however, to buy the $20 card from Amazon at a discount ($15 = an instant 25% savings) and then double up on the discount at the Leapfrog site.
