Lionel Polar Express Train Set

Lionel Polar Express Train Set - G-Gauge (Toy) Dissapointing. Instructions are poor (for those who need them). After assembly I found when the engine was put in reverse the gears made a loud clicking noise. I removed the bottom of the engine which secures the wheels in place and discovered that the drive gears were barely touching. After some sanding on the plastic gear shaft housing and adding a shim (2.5 hours latter) the problem was resolved. You need a pair of pliers to snap the track together otherwise they will come apart. Now the power. The train stalls unless the track is perfectly flat. When this happens the Radio Control needs to be reset to get the train functioning. The problem is two fold. The RADIO CONTROL unit is of poor design ( I have used many RC planes boats and cars so I know what I am talking about). Now back to the power - C battreies will barely work. This train needs a 9.6 volt RC car battery at least 1600mah to operate properly. The battery and and charger will set you back about $40 to $60. You now have a $190 train set. I doubt very many of the Lionel Train sets function very well out of the box. SPEND MORE for your little one and ensure a Merry Christmas for the both of you! This is a poor product!!!
