How it works: Load 3 DS or 3DS cartridges in the 3 slots and slide the notch to left, right or middle. Whatever number you have selected on the notch is the game you are playing. For example I have Pokemon White in 1, White 2 in 2 and Kingdom Hearts 3d in slot 3. I slide to position 2 and my 3ds says that White 2 is in the cartridge slot. When you want to change games, you don't have to go looking for your game cases, just slide to position 1 and be playing White in no time!
System compatibility/issues: this is the big one. I have seen reviews about this #falling off# or #cartridges won't read#, and I'll address both here. As for falling off: I tried this on a DS Lite and original 3DS with no issues with either. My flashcard didn't work with the game changer, but my flashcard is a load of junk, so I'm not worried. As for the cartridges falling out: there is no way they would unless the cartridge or the changer is damaged. My flashcard goes in way too easy and does at times come loose, but it doesn't fall out. As for not reading cartridges: easy question. Are you playing a 3DS title on a ds or dsi? My Lite won't read KH3D, just a warning :D
Size on system: On the 3DS it adds bulkiness, but it just made me not want it on there for long. I was playing a VC title with it on,it was awkward trying to use the dpad, I ended upusing the circle pad. On the Lite however it's almost a perfect fit.
Drawbacks: Only 3 slots is kind of bad for me, I do have a rather large collection. In a perfect world I would just order more and daisy-chain them together, but good luck. Also on my 3DS when I tried using my flashcard with it the changer would not send data of my other games without ejecting it from the slot while on home screen.
Long story short: it holds 3 games and allows you to switch them with a swipe of your finger. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some games to play.
